Issues Paper Idea

Is the effect of music on children influential enough to fight to keep it going?... I know it's kind of broad right now... but that's what i'm going for. I would like to start a music business someday, so I want to do this research in order to find enough evidence to really convince myself to pursue my goal and others to support me.

  1. When you say "on children" are we talking playing it to little babies, music class in elementary school, or what? I don't know what fight we're talking about.

  2. I'm thinking about doing a similar topic so narrowing it down will help a lot. But I'm confused as to whether you mean music education, or music exposure, or the radio, or what?

  3. There are plenty of ways you can narrow it down--just looking at the comments above will help you. I think the effects of music on children is a good subject and very relevant to our times when our youth are more plugged into music than ever before.

  4. Thanks for the comments. What i mean by the fight... is that a lot of states cut music programs and fine arts programs, or they just don't get a lot of funding. So, i want to see if it would make a big enough difference to a community if i wanted to give children more exposure to learning music. The business i would start would expose children to a lot of styles of music, like allowing them to sing different styles of music, try lots of different instruments, etc... i'm talking about children who have started school through seniors in high school,so maybe i should limit that?

  5. Probably. I'd limit it to either high-school or elementary school. Teenagers and children develope to differently to be considered in the same category

  6. It probably would be easier to focus on one age group: elementary, junior high, high school, or college.

  7. Ya i thought you were talking about whether music had a bad effect or not on kids..but the idea of teaching it to kids is pretty good. i think it helps a lot in developing parts of the brain to increase the way a person can grasp and store information.
