I loved this talk. I made tons of notes as I read through it. President Eyring is an incredible speaker and always conveys simple, applicable and powerful messages. He is incredible at using rhetoric in his talks. I liked how he has a great outline and progression. He starts by telling a story to make us more interested, then he applies that story to explain his reason and goal for giving the talk. Next, he explains the state of the world and the things that we as "learners" might be experiencing. After some great examples, solid teaching of the doctrine of the plan of salvation and some very helpful steps in being great learners President Eyring has effectively pulled us, well me at least, into a mindset of self confidence and motivation.
Here are some of my thoughts as I read... The more we learn, the more meaningful our life becomes. As time goes on we know more and more about the past and we have a longer past to know about, which continuously puts more responsibility on the rising generation. President Eyring is extremely persuasive. By the end of the talk I was very much engaged and ready to go for everything that he spoke about. the points he gave about being better learners were really helpful and gave me a strong focus point. many general authorities give list such as this one, but the one in this talk was very applicable and one that didn't seem generic. I loved the talk.
